June 2006: First World Congress on Pathology Informatics (WCPI) Brisbane Australia, August 16 & 17, 2007, BRISBANE (Satellite meeting days prior to MedInfo)
This is the first world congress in pathology informatics and follows previous Australian meetings. It is the first joint meeting with the American Association for Pathology Informatics. Further details very shortly
June 2006: Third International Conference on Information Technology in Health Care: Socio-technical Approaches (ITHC 2007) August 29-30, 2007, SYDNEY An IMIA Working Group Conference. The conference brings together researchers interested in the interconnect between technical aspects of information systems in health, and the human, social, and organizational dimensions. It is only through a deep understanding of this complex socio-technical interaction that we are able to design safe and effective systems which are used in the real world. Socio-technical approaches to design, implementation and evaluation of health information systems of necessity draw upon the expertise of a wide-range of disciplines. Participants will range from those interested in health informatics with backgrounds in the social, computer, information, cognitive and clinical sciences.
This conference will provide many opportunities for cross-disciplinary interaction, in-depth discussion and innovative thinking.
Particular themes which will be highlighted in the conference include:
· Socio-technical approaches to the evaluation of health information systems
· Safe system design
· Supporting communication in health care organisations

A very early bird registration will be available from September 1st 2006. Watch this website, dates of importance and fee details! Fees will be stated in AU dollars
The online registration process will comply with the necessary security of information with credit card payment. Credit cards will be accepted for registration and accommodation bookings.
Your accommodation bookings will also be available online and your payment must contain a one night booking rate fee for a booking confirmation. Accommodation bookings without payment will NOT be confirmed. Accommodation bookings with the Secretariat will close on 14th July 2007. Your registration and accommodation booking details are available from within this website.
* Registration fees will include full conference catering , session break refreshments and lunches. Social events, the fun part, are an additional cost.
* A special facility will be provided requesting special dietary requirements. Similarly disability or special physical needs requirements will be requested with your online registration.
Social program, tutorials and tour events will attract a separate charge

Medinfo 2007 Proceedings:
All registrants will receive the CD ROM of proceedings. Registrants have the opportunity to purchase a two volume print edition of proceedings at a special advanced purchase rate available with registration. Orders must be placed by June 30th 2007 to qualify. This offer is available pre-congress only. Standard publisher rates for purchase will apply from July 1st and on-site. IOS Press is the publisher of the Congress Proceedings 2007.

VISA information
For Congress participants, the right VISA for Australia Medinfo 2007 Congress is a BUSINESS (Short Stay) VISA, entitling some planned tourism activities as part of your stay.
VISA Types:
· A 456 VISA is issued as a label into a passport (fee of A$60.00 payable), or
· A 977 VISA can be issued electronically, i.e. no label (no fee payable).
The A 456 VISA entitles one or more visits; each of up to 3 months can be made within12 months of granting. A 977 VISA allows a single visit only for up to 3 months within 12 months of grant.
An electronic VISA, called an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) is available through participating airlines and travel agents overseas when people book their Australian arrival airline tickets.
Important notes
All attendees at the Medinfo 2007 Congress must be valid registrants to the Congress. Valid registration requires a Medinfo 2007 ID. Pre-Congress tutorial or workshop attendees must be registered for attendance with a valid ID. Valid registration IDs will be available on completion of purchase via the on-line or on-site registering process.
A cancellation of registration will come into effect following receipted evidence of a written letter of request forwarded, received and receipted by July 18th 2006. A cancellation fee of A$75.00 will apply in this instance. In cases of documented emergency between July 19 and August 12th, the cancelled fees will be returned but there will be a management fee of A$125.00. Cancellations will not be accepted after 12th August 2007.
All cancellation fees will be processed electronically four weeks post Congress. A valid cancellation must be approved in writing by the secretariat and the cancellee must provide specific EFT bank details for electronic transfer of funds.
Australias Medinfo 2007 Congress souvenirs
A limited number of official Congress souvenirs will be available with advance purchase on registration. A limited number will be available for purchase onsite. Images of Congress souvenirs will be added to the website early 2006. Only quality goods will be available for purchase.
