The Health Informatics Society of Australia (HISA) is the national country member to IMIA.  HISA commenced operations in 1993. Since the Association's formation the discipline of health informatics has grown immensely.  HISA hosts to the annual prestigious HIC event that brings the Australian health informatics community together. It is with great pride that HISA with our New Zealand informatics members HINZ in association with the IMIA country members host the 12th triennial Medinfo 2007 congress in Brisbane, Australia.

IMIA  International host

The origins of IMIA can be traced to a technical committee formed within the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) 1967. By 1979, IMIA had established its own bylaws and identity to be the home for collaboration and international advancement of medical informatics. IMIA today has 40 national country members, eighteen working groups (representing specialist areas within health informatics disciplines), forty-one academic and ten industry members of the IMIA family.

In association with Medinfo 2007, HISA will also host a pre-event and post-event:
1st World Congress Pathology Informatics (WCPI) Brisbane, and
3rd IT in Health Care conference (ITHC) Sydney
